Vettes of Coastal Maine
Vettes Of Coastal Maine was organized in 1977 by Corvette enthusiasts for Corvette enthusiasts. We are founding members of the New England Corvette Council and actively participate with neighboring clubs in Corvette activities throughout New England and with our Canadian friends in the Maritime Provinces.
Membership continues to grow and now stretches from the mid and south coast through the Kennebec Valley and into Downeast Maine. All are welcome and our mix of singles and couples, twenty something’s and retired brings diversity and a full range of interests to all activities. We are primarily a social organization, friends enjoying the company of other Corvette enthusiasts. Naturally, we talk Corvettes a lot, and the mutual interest provides a network for technical help, information on where to find what you might need, sharing of resources and great car stories.
Our cruising season begins early. A highlight of the cruising season is our annual long weekend gathering of nearly 100 Corvettes of all generations from Maine, neighboring states and provinces in beautiful Bar Harbor in early June. The event features a Corvette display, cruising the roads of Acadia National Park, visiting nearby villages and of course eating, shopping and socializing. Bar Harbor also serves as our major fund raising event for our charitable gift giving. Since the club’s inception, thousands of dollars have been donated by the club to charities throughout Maine.
Like all Corvette enthusiasts we like to travel together enjoying each others company on long runs to "Corvettes at Carlisle" or on short trips to the nearest cruise night. Summers are short but we take full advantage of every spectacular day. Our winter activities include potluck suppers rotating among different members’ homes (very popular!), restaurant get-togethers sleigh rides, snow tubing, bowling, museum visits, whatever makes the days pass until we can cruise again.
We're glad you could cruise on by the home of Vettes Of Coastal Maine. We hope you will join us soon.

Posted by webmaster on Wednesday, February 17 @ 12:10:58 EST (21 reads)
Our Valentine's day cards were delivered on the 12th to Stella Maris House in Rockland that serves forty nine residences. The administrator was pleased to receive our donation and was planning on putting them in residents mailboxes.
Our own VOCM gathering was small, but we had a wonderful time at Slate's and enjoyed celebrating Terry's Valentines Day birthday. Hope you all enjoyed whatever the day brought to you. We will be holding a St. Patrick's Day gathering soon and hope to see many of you.

News and more news.

Debbie writes "Hello everyone. We enjoyed a nice afternoon at LeGarage in Wiscasset for the annual meeting. Thank you to all that have supported the club by submitting your dues to Joan. We hope to see some of you that may have forgotten to do so on the books soon and hope you can join us at an upcoming event soon. If you have already headed South, have a great winter.
The nominations for 2010 officers were accepted by attendees and we will continue next year with our current officers. Everyone agreed to continue working for VOCM another term. Thank you to all for your past help and continued support.
Once again VOCM has made the decision to host the Bar Harbor Tour 2010 and continue to offer various activities for our guests. Our theme this year will be our own Harbor High School Homecoming Weekend and Prom. You all must remember attending Harbor High....home of the Stingrays! Ron Haney has agreed to head up the " Stringray Boosters' Club" and will be rallying you all to attend a Saturday car show. We hope for a homecoming gathering in the evening that will bring out all the football players, students, teachers, janitors, librarians, cheerleaders, baton twirling majorettes( of which we have at least one to my knowledge), band members, prom dresses, photographers and whatever else your imagination can provide. Please vote on this website poll your choice of our colors for Harbor High.
We hope to have the biggest homecoming weekend in the history of Harbor High.(That should not be hard considering its so far non existent history.) Please count on joining us and we will plan for a class photo!
Stay warm...meet up with us for a Holiday Gathering on the 5th of December at the Roy's. More information will be coming. "

Bar Harbor
Posted by webmaster on Thursday, October 29 @ 15:12:42 EDT (253 reads)

We had a great gathering in Bar Harbor, and I am sure as soon as everyone booked their rooms their first thought must have been " Please let it rain again this year. It is so much fun there when it rains!" Sure enough, the wish came true. JJ and Jerrys room that was ocean view, soon turned into ocean view and pool side! The amount of water that was pouring off Cadillac Mountain was a wonder to see. The rain dampered our clothing but not really our spirits and we had a great time regardless. Jordan Pond house was as busy as ever. We tried the Sweet Pea winery tasting room, and shopped, cruised, and looked left, right, and center on Sat. night and what should appear...but the most marvelous cake in the hands of Pam and Charlie Hickey. Thanks you two. That was yummy. Enjoy the rest of the fall season. Hope to see many of you next week at LeGarage annual meeting in Damariscotta.

A note of rememberence.

Debbie writes "

Our thoughts of sympathy are with the family of Jerry O'Brien, from Canada, who many of you may remember on one occasion led the YMCA song at Bar Harbor Banquet,( while standing on a chair), and had a very enjoyable time entertaining the rest of us. We have received sad news from Tom Webster that Jerry has recently passed away. May he rest in peace.

A few members met in Augusta at Red Robin and we had a wonderful time eating, chatting and celebrating Pam and Ron Haney's 32nd Wedding Anniversary. Of course Dr. Ray had to give our awesome waitress a hard time, but she was a good sport and gave it right back....:) Members in attendance were: Ron and Pam Haney, Ron and Margie Roy, Wil and Tina Thibodeau, Marcia LaMont, Ray Burdzel.
September 19th 2009:
VOCM Members met in Augusta and took off on a Cruise to Rangeley....It was a perfect day for a cruise and we were all itching to get out on the road, as the rain fell for most of the summer and we were kept off the road...We cruised along windy roads in the warm September sun..Our first stop was at Sarge's Sports Pub and Grub for lunch, then it was off to take some pictures at Rangeley Lake, then we drove up to Sugar Loaf and ended up at Gifford's in Farmington for some refreshing and calorie free ice cream....YUM....It was a great cruise spent with some wonderful friends on a wicked good day!
Members in attendance: Ron and Margie Roy, Ron and Pam Haney, Wil and Tina Thibodeau, Marcia Lamont, Ray Burdzel, Skip and Kathy Morrissette, Terry Larson and Diane. "
