Welcome to Vettes Of Coastal Maine

Vettes Of Coastal Maine was organized in 1977 by Corvette enthusiasts for Corvette enthusiasts. We are founding members of the New England Corvette Council and actively participate with neighboring clubs in Corvette activities throughout New England and with our Canadian friends in the Maritime Provinces.

Membership continues to grow and now stretches from the mid and south coast through the Kennebec Valley and into Downeast Maine. All are welcome and our mix of singles and couples, twenty something’s and retired brings diversity and a full range of interests to all activities. We are primarily a social organization, friends enjoying the company of other Corvette enthusiasts. Naturally, we talk Corvettes a lot, and the mutual interest provides a network for technical help, information on where to find what you might need, sharing of resources and great car stories.

Our cruising season begins early. A highlight of the cruising season is our annual long weekend gathering of nearly 100 Corvettes of all generations from Maine, neighboring states and provinces in beautiful Bar Harbor in early June. The event features a Corvette display, cruising the roads of Acadia National Park, visiting nearby villages and of course eating, shopping and socializing. Bar Harbor also serves as our major fund raising event for our charitable gift giving. Since the club’s inception, thousands of dollars have been donated by the club to charities throughout Maine.

Like all Corvette enthusiasts we like to travel together enjoying each others company on long runs to "Corvettes at Carlisle" or on short trips to the nearest cruise night. Summers are short but we take full advantage of every spectacular day. Our winter activities include potluck suppers rotating among different members’ homes (very popular!), restaurant get-togethers sleigh rides, snow tubing, bowling, museum visits, whatever makes the days pass until we can cruise again.

We're glad you could cruise on by the home of Vettes Of Coastal Maine. We hope you will join us soon.

VOCM Update on OOB Car Show date!
Posted by webmaster on Thursday, August 28 @ 20:42:11 EDT (17 reads)

DEBBIE writes
Updated date on OOB Car  Show:
Old Orchard Beach Car Show & Parade - 15th Annual

The 15th Annual Old Orchard Beach Car Show and Parade will take place September 12 – 13th with hundreds of truly distinctive and classic antique cars and trucks on display. The weekend kicks of Friday night with numerous superbly restored and maintained classic cars and trucks on display. Old Orchard Street is closed to traffic to make way for this vintage car display. Participating cars and trucks then form the now famous Car Show Parade. This is a unique opportunity to view these vintage vehicles "cruising" East and West Grand Avenue, creating a scene reminiscent of decades gone by.

The actual Car Show Exhibit, the 15th Annual Old Orchard Beach Car Show will take place from 8am to 3:00pm on Saturday. Car Show registration will be from 8am to Noon with final balloting by 1pm. All cars registered for the show receive a commemorative Car Show dash plaque. Car Show winners are to be announced at approximately 2:30pm and trophies for all categories will be awarded at that time. Following the winners presentations, there is a Grand Finale Car Parade along East and West Grand Avenues to wrap up this weekend of fun.

VOCM Carlisle
Posted by webmaster on Monday, August 25 @ 19:29:17 EDT (17 reads)

DEBBIE writes "We had a good turnout at Carlisle and it seemed everyone was enjoying themselves and the weather.  It was much more comfortable than some other years. We enjoyed seeing one of our past presidents, Alan Anthony with his wife Bobbye and two couples that joined them from Florida.  Other Vette owners from Pa. were also at our Inn.  Everyone had their own agenda and schedules and seemed to accomplish what they came to do! It was great to have everyone from Maine there. The show was great although some of the major vendors were not at the fairgrounds this year.   Red, white and blue Corvettes made up the flag for photo opportunites. Hope you all found everything on your parts lists and had a pleasant drive back. "

VOCM Havest of Vettes Cancelled
Posted by webmaster on Monday, August 18 @ 21:14:16 EDT (25 reads)

Debbie writes "
Hello Everyone,
As many of you are aware, this has been a very tough Corvette season.  We've all been battling a bad economy, extremely high gas prices, and terrible weather.  Most clubs that have had their shows this year have experienced low or lower attendance than prior years.  Enthusiasts are scrutinizing how and where they spend their Corvette dollars; picking and choosing one or two events to participate in.  With that said, Spindle City Corvette Club has discussed our options and voted to cancel our Harvest of Vettes show scheduled for Sunday, September 14th.  Thanks to those of you that have offered your services to help run the show.
The club itself is going through a reorganization and rebuilding phase right now and will be focusing our attention on smaller events over the coming months and working on expansion of our membership base.
We hope you all understand and stick with us over the coming months as we move forward.
Save the wave!
Thank you,
Martin Shipon, President
Spindle City Corvette Club
Michael Carielli, Vice President

VOCM Rusty Nuts Car Show this past Sunday
Posted by webmaster on Monday, August 18 @ 20:36:41 EDT (31 reads)

Debbie writes "
It was a beautiful day Sunday for the car show at the Togus Veteran's Hospital hosted by the Rusty Nuts Car Club.  Eleven of us met at the Roy's in South China and cruised in, meeting a couple more at the field. This show has increased in attendance every year and the Rusty Nuts should be commended for a fine job this year.  The food was great, the raffle and door prize items more than ample. We were happy to have enjoyed the company of some perspective members of VOCM as well and hope to see them a future event. Thanks to all of you that attended and made this a special day for the Veterans.  It was wonderful to see so many patients able to get outside and enjoy the fine weather and mingle with the vehicle owners. Larry of the Rusty Nuts spoke with me and thanked us for coming and thanks in turn were given to him for a great event.  Well done Rusty Nuts!!

VOCM China Community Days Car Show
Posted by webmaster on Sunday, August 03 @ 22:55:28 EDT (63 reads)

mar-g writes "
I want to thank those who came out for the China Community Days car show on Saturday.  Our own Larry Constanzer and crew did a fine job getting the cars registered and set up, his children helped count ballots and handed out the trophies---a real family effort.  The weather was overcast but it did not rain.  Attending from VOCM was Marcia Lamont, Skip and Kathy Morrissette, Joan Janowski and Ron and Margie.  While we waited for ballots to be counted, we took in the magic show, visited the vendors, and ate, of course.  :)  JJ took a few of the group on a geocaching expedition down a trail behind the China school.  I think Ron has found a new hobby!

Be sure to check our calendar for events--Togus Veteran's picnic on August 17th.  Meet at the Roys in China at 9:30 a.m. or at the Wiscasset or Topsham locations at 8:30 to caravan to Togus.

VOCM Fast Eddies Cruise Night

mar-g writes "
There was a huge turnout at Fast Eddies last Wednesday night---classic cars, motorcycles, and Corvettes, including 6 VOCM cars--Ray, Marcia, Debbie & Barry, Tim & Brenda, Gene, Ron & Margie.  The weather was perfect for top-down cruising.  Dr. Ray was a big winner for door prizes--a t-shirt and a mug and Brenda won the 50/50 money several weeks ago.

Join us for good food, DJ music and fun 5:30 - 8:30 pm Wednesdays at Fast Eddies on Route 202, Winthrop.

VOCM Club meeting
Posted by webmaster on Friday, July 11 @ 11:39:27 EDT (111 reads)

debbie writes "It was hot hot hot in Owls Head on Sunday and a huge turnout on the old airstrip. The club parked on the grass and held our meeting.  We got the report from JJ on the Bar Harbor financials, and voted to have another event next spring. Get out your beach gear, straw hats and sunglasses as we will host  a hot, hot, hot  Margaritaville or Marga & Rita Ville in Bar Harbor. That should be a theme that everyone can handle with not much preparation. Keep a lookout for those hibiscus flowered shirts and cut off jeans.  We know there are a few guitar players amongst you. Don?? Bret?? Al K.?? ( Maybe we can extend an invite to Jimmy B. to the buffet. ) It will be five o'clock somewhere.....probably in Bar Harbor.

I like the Bar Harbor fall event and will go back.
I would like a fall retreat in a different area.
